Instructor: Jason Thigpen

Learn the differences between various types of leather and their applications and techniques of securing leather, including different types of hand stitching techniques and the use of mechanical fasteners (rivets, etc.) Learn how to wet mould leather, including form building and leather prep. Learn basic leather finishing techniques and application. Experiment with various techniques and ideas for implementing leatherwork into furniture making. Jason Thigpen from Texas Heritage Woodworks is well respected for his leather working skills and is excited to teach a 4 day intensive. Sarah Thigpen will be assisting with the class. The tool tote designed by Jason will be the class project. All skill levels welcome; you can come in as a beginner, leave with advanced skills and increased confidence.
