Instructor: Catherine Grisez

A traditional method of hammering flat metal into three-dimensional forms, holloware offers endless options for the contemporary artist. Students will transform sheet metal into sculptural forms using techniques such as raising, dapping, planishing, chasing and repousse, then add a variety of surface textures. Options for finishing, coloring, and sealing finished projects will also be introduced. Beginning students will have the opportunity to create 1 to 2 small hollow formed vessels and advanced students may work on independent projects, with emphasis on personalized instruction for individual designs.
