Instructor: Tom Henscheid

There is so much potential on how you finish your bowls that allows for a creative process to continue even after you have turned bowl. This class will be co taught by Tom Henscheid and Elizabeth Weber, they will cover a wide variety of techniques including oil finishes, milk paints, bleaching, blackening, fuming, metallic paints, and a few unusual novel approaches. The live session will be demonstrations with time for student questions throughout the class. The class will have a small supply kit with several samples for students to experiment with on your own time. There will be an opportunity to follow up with Tom and Elizabeth after the class to ask questions once students have spent time testing finishes. This class will take place online over Microsoft Team, it will be recorded, and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. Kits will be available for pick up (no shipping) on Sep 21 from 6-8 pm. Kit pick up will be contactless as they will be located on the covered porch of the Wood Studio at Pratt Fine Arts Center. Each student will also need to provide their own limited set of tools. A detailed supply list is available upon request and will be emailed prior to class. The techniques in the class don't just apply to bowl turners, any woodworker is welcome, the examples given in the demo will be specific to woodturning.
