Instructor: Chris Jacobsen

In this online class, students will learn about resin casting and turning a resin project. The beginning of the first session will be a general overview on resin options, using a pressure pot vs not, different ways to color the resin (dyes vs powders), as well as adding other objects or making a wood/resin hybrid. At the end of the first session students will cast their spindle blanks, which will become the handle to either a pizza cutter or ice cream scoop (students choice). In the second session, we will discuss different turning tool options as well as how to best sand and finish resin projects. Instructor Chris Jacobsen, will demo skills needed for turning a resin casted piece and students will prepare and turn their handle. After the demos in both sessions, students will start working on their projects and receive feedback from the instructor. Plan to have a place to put your laptop or device to film yourself as you work. This class will be maxed out at 5 people to allow for quality feedback during everyone's work sessions. Each student will also have 10-15 minutes of one on one time with the instructor per class. This course is instructed online, using Microsoft Teams. All live sessions will be recorded and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. Students will order all of their supplies online or shop locally for them, nothing will be provided by Pratt. Each student will also need to provide their own limited set of tools, including a lathe. A detailed supply list is available upon request and will be emailed prior to class. Prerequisite: Beginning Woodturning
