Beautiful, versatile and widely available, wood is an ideal alternative material for jewelry. In this class we'll learn to make the most of wood's palate of colors and textures using tools and techniques appropriate for use in any kind of space you have access to these days. Topics will include basic shaping and finishing, simple surface embellishments, and adding findings. Students will make several samples and finish at least one pendant or pair of earrings. Prerequisite: Beginning Jewelry/Metals or equivalent
*Students will pick up a supply kit from Pratt prior to the first class. Students will need to provide their own handtools based on a shopping list provided (this includes common items such as a jeweler’s saw, files, etc.). Students receiving Tuition Assistance may request to borrow a tool kit from Pratt. PLEASE REGISTER BY OCTOBER 14 TO ENSURE THERE WILL BE TIME TO RECEIVE YOUR SUPPLY KIT.
