Instructor: Betzalel Massarano

This four-day class will focus on the basic skills, tools, techniques, and safety of woodworking practice, including milling and cutting lumber to size, joinery, and basic finishing, as well as general shop safety and project planning. Over the course of the class, each student will build a simple Shaker-style stool from the included supply kit. Kits will be available for pick up (no shipping) on Dec 2 from 12-4 pm. Kit pick up will be contactless as they will be located on the covered porch of the Wood Studio at Pratt Fine Arts Center. Each student will also need to provide their own limited set of tools. A detailed supply list is available upon request and will be emailed prior to class. This class will take place online over Microsoft Team and will consist of livestreamed lessons, demonstrations and lectures, along with supervised hands-on work time and individual one-on-one feedback. This class will be maxed out at 7 people to allow for quality feedback during everyone's work sessions. Plan to have a place to put your laptop to film yourself as you work so that Betz Massarano your instructor can offer feedback. All live sessions will be recorded and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. This class meets on Dec 3, 4, 10, and 17th. No Prerequisite. Enrollment deadline is 8 days prior to class start.
