In this class you will be learning how to design and make a bracelet and a ring using layers and joining them together with the use of rivets. You will learn to cut, file and form sheet metal as well as how to add textures, working first on a brass bracelet, and then refining your skills on a smaller scale by making a ring from sterling silver. Grow your repertoire of techniques and designs by learning how rivets and can both add visual interest and join metal securely, all without the use of flame and solder. You will create one bracelet and one ring--sweet gifts for yourself or a loved one.
*Students will pick up a supply kit from Pratt prior to the first class. Students will need to provide their own handtools based on a shopping list provided (this includes common jewelry tools such as a saw, files, etc). Students receiving Tuition Assistance may request to borrow a tool kit from Pratt. Please register at least one week prior to the class start date to have time for getting tools and supply kits.
