Spoke shaves are fabulous tools for cutting curving spindles, chamfers and faucets on thin wood spokes. These tools, traditionally used for wagon spokes and chair legs are ideal tools for spoon carving. In this class Tom Henscheid will show methods for holding onto the wood. The use of many variations of shaves, the advantages of each kind and how to sharpen and adjust them. Tom has used spoke shaves extensively for over 40 years, he has developed some preferences. Tom will demonstrate simple modifications to modesty priced and flee market tools that will have your spoons singing. Have any shaves you have on hand along with questions. This 90-minute class will change the way you look at this incredible tool. This class will be hosted on online via Microsoft Teams. There will also be time during the live session to ask questions as they come up. The live session will be recorded and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. No Prerequisite. Enrollment deadline is 3 days prior to class start.
