Instructor: Tom Henscheid

Have you ever wanted to learn how to sharpen your spoon carving tools? Well then gather your dull tools up and sign up for this online class. The class will cover how to sharpen small knives, bent knives, gouges, as well as scrapers. At least 24 hrs before the live session, several short videos (that combine to almost an hour long) will be shared with students on how to sharpen each of the tool types. Please watch and try out the sharpening techniques prior to the live session. That way during the live session, students will have a chance to ask questions based on what isn't working for them. The goal is to demystify sharpening. This will be a hands-on class, so be ready to show yourself working on screen so that you can get feedback from your instructor and please ask questions throughout the class. The class will be maxed at 8 people. No Prerequisite. The supply kit will include a strop, a dowel for inside stropping, plus a selection of wet and dry sandpapers. This class will take place online over Microsoft Team, it will be recorded, and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. Each student will also need to provide their own limited set of tools. A detailed supply list is available upon request and will be emailed prior to class. Supply kit pick up (no shipping) is Sun, May 9 from 1-3 pm. Kit pick up will have limited human interaction. Wear a mask. Enrollment deadline is 8 days prior to class start.
