Learn about the ancient fiber art of macrame and create your own macrame plant hanger in this 2 hour online (one night) introductory course using Microsoft Teams. After going over supplies and terms and learning a basic knot, we will spend the rest of the class time creating a simple plant hanger together. Notes and diagrams provided to reference post-class. Macrame is an incredibly versatile form of textile art, with which you can create an unlimited number of both functional and decorative pieces. The best part of this artform, is that you only need a couple tools (some kind of cord, and a way to hang it) and you can make a variety of shapes and designs using only one or two kinds of knots! Best known for its heyday in the 1960’s and 70’s (think chunky orange and brown plant hangers and macrame owls), macrame has seen a resurgence in the last 5 years, and is an easy hobby to take up without much investment up front. A detailed supply list link to purchase is available upon request and will be emailed prior to class. This course is instructed online, using Microsoft Teams. All live sessions will be recorded and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. The deadline for registration of the class is April 12th.
