Learn about the ancient fiber art of macrame and create your own macrame plant hanger in this 3 hour online (one night) course using Microsoft Teams. (“Introduction to Macrame Plant Hangers” 2 hour course not required as a prerequisite.) After going over supplies and terms, we will spend the rest of the class time creating a plant hanger together using 4 basic macrame knots. Notes and diagrams provided to reference post-class. Macrame is an incredibly versatile form of textile art, with which you can create an unlimited number of both functional and decorative pieces. The best part of this artform, is that you only need a couple tools (some kind of cord, and a way to hang it) and you can make a variety of shapes and designs using only one or two kinds of knots! Best known for its heyday in the 1960’s and 70’s (think chunky orange and brown plant hangers and macrame owls), macrame has seen a resurgence in the last 5 years, and is an easy hobby to take up without much investment up front. A detailed supply list will be emailed prior to class. The live session will be recorded and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. The deadline for registration of this class is May 10th.
