Have you ever wondered how to harvest wood from a log to produce bowl blanks? In this online class, we'll walk you through how to get bowl blanks from your piece of wood. We'll look at how to predict how a piece will move, what the grain will look like once it is turned, and the process of finish turning a piece green vs. rough turning to do a twice turned bowl. The class will have prerecorded content to watch before class start date to learn concepts. Prerequisite: None; however, if you have not been trained in chainsaw safety and don't have safety equipment please use a froe or sledgehammer and wedge to make your rough blanks. This class will be hosted on Microsoft Teams, the class will be recorded, students will have access to the class for 48 hours after the class ends. This will be a hands-on class, be ready to show yourself working on screen so that you can get feedback from your instructor and please ask questions throughout the class. The class will be maxed at 8 people. Supply kit pick up which will be a green section of log (no shipping) is Sun, May 16 from 1-3 pm. Kit pick up will have limited human interaction. Wear a mask. Students must supply their own tools; a full supply list with instructions will be emailed. Enrollment deadline is 8 days prior to class start.
