In this class, students will discover interesting textures that are relatively easy to create: "hammer textured" faucets, shell textures, branch forms, leaf textures, etc. Tom will demonstrate each of the techniques the first week. Then in the second session we will address any questions and discuss variations on the themes. The supply kit will include four spoon blanks to create seashell and leaf spoons as well as standard cooking spoon shapes to texture. Plus, it will have multiple practice pieces. Plan to have your laptop in front of you so the instructor can provide feedback and assistance during class. This online class is hosted on Microsoft Teams and will max out with 7 students. The class will be recorded, students will have access to the class for 48 hours after the class ends. Basic spoon carving prerequisite. Kits are available for local pick up only (no shipping). Students must supply their own tools. A detailed supply list is available upon request (inquire with kmcintyre@pratt.org) and will be emailed prior to class. The supply kit pick up is Sun, August 1 from 1-3 pm. Kit pick up will have limited human interaction, located at the exterior door to the Youth Room/blue building at Pratt Fine Arts Center, wear a mask. Enrollment deadline is 8 days prior to class start.
