Ready to add more sparkle to your jewelry? In this class, you will learn the technique of flush setting for faceted stones. The technique allows to set faceted stones flush to the surface of your metal. You will learn how to measure, drill, open up and prepare the setting on the metal. We will discuss the anatomy of a faceted stone, the process of making our own burnishers and how to move the metal around your stone for setting.
By the end of class, you will have finished a practice plate and if you catch on quick, you may have time to create a simple pendant. Students must have access to a rotary hand peice tool that can accept a 3/32" shank. Prerequisites: Beg Jewelry Class.
*Students will pick up a supply kit from Pratt prior to the first class. Students will need to provide their own hand tools based on a shopping list provided (this includes common jewelry tools such as a saw, files, etc. Students receiving Tuition Assistance may request to borrow a tool kit from Pratt. Please register at least one week prior to the class start date to have time for getting tools and supply kits.
