In this online class, you will learn how to create intricate Japanese wooden patterns called kumiko, and the foundational concept of the technique. Each session will feature 10-15 minutes of demonstration time and time to practice the new skill and discuss. At the end of the course, you'll have an asanoha kumiko pattern of your own. This course is instructed online, using Microsoft Teams (a video conferencing tool). All live sessions will be recorded and available for 48 hours after the class is completed. Supply kits will be shipped to students, please make sure your shipping address is correct while enrolling for the class. In person pick up is not possible. Must enroll 7 days prior to class to allow time for shipping. Please inquire with bmcgarry@pratt.org if interested in shipping to Canada or other international destinations. Each student will also need to provide their own limited set of tools. A detailed supply list is available upon request and will be emailed prior to class. This class will be maxed out at 8 people to allow for quality feedback during everyone's work sessions. Plan to have a place to put your laptop to film yourself as you work. Supply fee $125
